The most important quality of natural products lies in their ability to be used sustainably — without polluting the environment and while making the best possible use of natural resources.
Palm trees have become increasingly significant today, as they are long-living trees with deep roots and a wide range of practical uses.

The date palm is especially valuable for its dates, dried leaves, and fibers. Thanks to its many useful parts, it plays an essential role in various manufacturing industries.

Palm fronds and their properties

To create a palm basket, artisans use palm fronds or wicker from the date palm — which, in appearance, resemble long feathers.

A large basket typically requires between 120 and 240 palm leaves, which are first air-dried before weaving. During this process, their natural green color fades, leaving the leaves lighter, finer, and stronger.

Once dried, the weaving can begin. To keep the leaves flexible, they are soaked in water for a while. When the basket is finished, the artisan trims any excess leaves and checks its strength and stability.
